I’m the Solutionizer.

As Paul Rand said, “Don’t try to be original, just try to be good.” So what is good? In my mind, good design is the answer to the question. It is the perfect solution to a single given design problem. Getting there can be tough as we all know. Sometimes, it doesn’t take originality, it takes solutionizing. Solutionizing is looking at a design problem from every angle possible and not being afraid to break out of the perceived “box” of solutions. That is really the key to solutionizing. Rewrite the “rules”, turn the problem inside out and upside down. Question your own perceptions about design and what it should be. And sometimes, what you’ll get is good design.

My name is Anna Louise Harriman and I am full-time freelance visual designer who specializes in creating beautiful and functional web pages and mobile applications. With over 5 years of experience, I’ve had the privilege of working with Fortune 500 companies to small mom-and-pop shops on almost every aspect of the creative process. I’ve been a senior visual designer and also have experience leading a creative team and overseeing projects. Some of the clients I have worked for are: Tiffany & Co., MTV, Disney Parks & Resorts, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Pfizer, ESPN, Gucci, HP.

A native Californian, I moved to New York in 2003 and attended the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn graduating with a BFA in Art Direction. After graduating, I worked at a small print design studio called Public NY and was then hired at Moment Design, a boutique interactive consultancy in New York. I had a great time working there for a little over 2 years and made my way to a senior visual design position before deciding to move back to the Bay Area to be closer to family. After moving I decided to become a freelance designer which has allowed me to work with a lot of great studios and independent clients. I’ve spent time at Hot Studio, Adaptive Path and Hydrant as well as done work for Education.com and Beyonddiet.com. My experience working with many studios and clients has given me a great perspective on how to run projects, work with clients and oversee the creative process. I’ve worked on everything from strategy, wireframing, and research to concepting, executing and documenting designs.

I am incredibly driven, dedicated and passionate about design. I am a critical thinker and believe that good design goes past simply making things look pretty. I love helping clients develop the face of their brand or product knowing that the work we do together will define the way the world sees and thinks about them. I strive to work for honest, integrity-filled people and companies and always hold myself to those standards when it comes to the quality of my work and my interaction with you, the client.
